Trochilus

The hummingbirds brilliant throat colour is caused by iridescence in the arrangements of its feathers and not feather pigmentation. Either way they are incandescently beautiful. 

Trochilus is one of the illustrative tables from Kunstformen der Natur (known in English also as Art Forms in Nature) by highly renowned Prof. Dr. Ernst Haeckel published between 1899 and 1904.
