Polytrichum

Did you know mosses can be up to 50 cm high? And that the spectacular flower like things actual are sporophytes which contains spores helping the mosses to expand their lifespan.  

Polytrichum is one of the illustrative tables from Kunstformen der Natur (known in English also as Art Forms in Nature) by highly renowned Prof. Dr. Ernst Haeckel published between 1899 and 1904.
